Introduction Currency Conversion in Niobi lets you move money between currencies for two different purposes: topping up your own account balance, or paying a recipient in a currency other than the one you hold. Both use the same guided flow, with Niobi calculating the exchange rate and payout amount for you before anything is confirmed. In this guide, you'll learn how to: - Choose between topping up your account and paying a recipient - Set the source and destination currencies and amount - Use or override the exchange rate - Review the final conversion details before submitting - Understand the transaction summary once the currency conversion is complete Time to complete: 2–4 minutes\ Difficulty: Beginner Before You Start Before you convert currency in Niobi, make sure you have: - An active Niobi account with sufficient available balance in the currency you're converting from - Clarity on your destination currency — the currency your account will receive, or that your recipient will be paid in - If applicable, an agreed FX rate from your counterpart, if you're not using Niobi's current system rate - Your authenticator app set up, since conversions — like other payments — require 2-factor authorization before they're processed Step 1: Choose Send or Receive From the Make Payments screen, select Currency Conversion from the dropdown. This is Step 1 of 5 — Send or Receive? You'll be asked: "What would you like to do?" Choose one of two options: - Top up my account — Convert currency and receive funds into your account - Pay a recipient — Convert currency and send a payment to a recipient This choice sets the direction of the conversion for the rest of the flow — it determines which currency is your source and which is your destination. Step 2: Enter Currency Conversion Details The fields on this screen are the same regardless of what you chose in Step 1, but the direction is set automatically: - If you chose Pay a recipient, a banner confirms "You are paying a recipient," with your own currency as the Source Account and the recipient's currency as the Destination Account. - If you chose Top up my account, the banner reads "You are topping up your account," with the currency you're converting from as the Source Account and your own account currency as the Destination Account. Fill in: - Use Current Exchange Rate — check this box to use Niobi's live system rate - Agreed FX Rate (optional) — if you've agreed on a specific rate with the other party, enter it here to override the system rate - Source Account — confirm the currency and enter the amount you're converting - Destination Account — shows the calculated result once you enter an amount - Use the swap icon between the two account rows if you'd rather enter the amount on the destination side instead Click Proceed once your amount and rate are set.
