How to Top Up Your GBP Account on Niobi
Your Niobi GBP account allows you to hold British Pounds (GBP) for domestic payments to UK vendors, employee payroll, and cross-border transactions.
Currently, the Niobi platform supports funding your GBP wallet exclusively through internal Currency Conversion using your existing multi-currency balances (such as USD or KES). Direct external bank deposits (such as local Faster Payments, Bacs, CHAPS, or external SWIFT wires) are not available at this time.
Time to complete: 1–5 minutes.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- An active Niobi account with the GBP currency wallet enabled.
- An existing funded balance in another wallet on your Niobi dashboard (such as USD or KES) to convert from.
- Completed your two-factor authentication (2FA) login.
Step-by-Step Funding Method: Currency Conversion
Since currency conversion is the exclusive method to add funds to your GBP balance, follow these direct platform workflows to complete your top-up.
1. Initiate the Process:\
Dashboard\
Log into your Niobi dashboard. From the main panel, click the Receive Payments button.
2) Select GBP:\
Currency Wallet\
A popup window will appear. Choose GBP from the currency dropdown menu to isolate British Pound funding options.
3. Select Currency Conversion:\
Funding Type\
From the available pathways, select Currency Conversion. You will be directed to a dedicated multi-currency exchange interface.
4) Choose Top Up My Account:\
Identify Intent\
The portal will ask for your primary target action. Select Top up my account (Convert currency and receive funds into your account).
5. Select Your Rate Strategy:\
Exchange Rate\
Choose Niobi's standard live market exchange rate (the most competitive retail rate available) OR click to propose your own custom exchange rate for high-volume transactions. Note: Custom rate proposals are automatically routed to our Treasury department for manual validation.
6. Enter Amounts & Submit:\
Execute Order\
The platform automatically sets your target destination ("To") wallet as GBP. Select your desired source wallet (such as USD or KES) from the "From" field and input the amount you want converted. Click Proceed, double-check the values on the final review page, and click Submit.
Tracking and Delivery Times
Once your conversion request is submitted, you can track its progress under Recent Transactions on your main dashboard using three clear states:
- Pending: Your conversion is in queue or is currently being reviewed by the Treasury department (if a custom rate was proposed).
- Success: The transaction is finalized. The funds are instantly swapped, your GBP balance is updated, and you will receive an automatic email, SMS, and in-app notification alert.
- Failed: The transfer was rejected or could not be processed due to a market timeout or insufficient source funds.
Processing Timeline: Standard live market rate conversions settle almost ins
